Initial consultation and treatment: £ 40 (approx. 1 hour)
Follow-up treatments: £ 35 (approx. 30 minutes)
Patients will usually experience symptom relief after just a couple of treatments. In more chronic conditions, a longer course of treatment may be required, although it is impossible to predict with certainty how many treatments will be required in each individual case as everyone is very different. There are many intrinsic and extrinsic factors that will affect the healing response of an individual, including age, lifestyle, general health and vitality, stress, weight, level of fitness, regularity of ‘healthy’ activity, severity of injury, previous illness and injury, diet.........the list goes on!
Having said that... if your symptoms have not improved after, for example, 3 or 4 treatments, then, following discussion with your osteopath, you may need to be referred for further investigations through your GP or for alternative treatment, which may be more suitable. It is very important that you receive what’s best for you and that isn’t always osteopathy! Some clinics will make the mistake of over-treating. We pride ourselves on not doing so. Dr Andrew Taylor Still, founder of Osteopathy, said: “Find it, fix it, and leave it alone”. There are exceptions to this rule such as elderly patients, who may find it beneficial to attend more regularly to maintain mobility and relieve pain from a degenerative condition.
Initially treatments may be spaced more closely together (a few days or a week apart) then they are gradually spread further apart as the symptoms become more manageable, and until treatment is no longer required.
Some people ask about getting regular “maintenance” treatments every few months and this may be very useful in some cases. Other people prefer to be treated on an “as and when” basis.
Here are details of the treatment.
